I know I’m getting old. I say that half seriously b/c I know that 32 (in 3 weeks) is not really old. But I can start to see the signs. It’s sad. Here are some of the “signs”:
* a college girl from church asked me how old I was and when I told her she [...]

Animal Self and Diabolical Self
Excerpt from Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis
“The sins of the flesh are bad, but they are the least bad of all sins. All the worst pleasures are purely spiritual: the pleasure of putting other people in the wrong, of bossing and patronising and spoiling sport, and back-biting, the pleasures of power, of hatred. For there are two things [...]

Sweet Noelle
Sweet Noelle
November has brought the season of cold and flu right to my door step. We’ve been to the doctors no less than three times this month and are currently monitoring Noelle’s health over the phone for the next two days. With her immuno-depression in charge, she has little defense against colds. I unfortunately [...]

TV- Can’t Stop Watching It
My husband thinks I watch too much tv. I assure him that I only watch TV once the kids are in bed and even then there are probably only 3 shows that I really enjoy. The first is Grey’s Anatomy; the second is Heroes; and the third is America’s Next Top Model. Of those three [...]

Wondering What’s Real
God calls us to tell the truth. He calls us to love our brothers. He calls us to the light and I believe I have followed His callings. Even so, it doesn’t make understanding all of his callings crystal clear. For example, what am I supposed to do when a friend, who is also called [...]

God-Sized Tasks

Confession
I’ve done it. I can’t deny it. I bought a harness for Noelle, 23 months old. We went out this morning, I purchased it and tried it on her immediately. It’s actually cutely disguised by an across the shoulder purse that can be used later when she grows out of the harness. Nice selling feature:)
Lainee, [...]

Special Treats
Each morning my oldest daughter Lainee wakes with two questions: Where are we going today? and, Can I have a special treat? I’m sure the Halloween candy fest hasn’t helped this habit but the questions existed well before the mountain of candy arrived.
I can understand the first inquiry because I am an admitted “out and abouter”…. [...]

Leaky Faucet Syndrome
My bathroom tub has had a leaky, drippy, irritatingly rhythmic drip for a few months now. Every morning when I enter the bathroom and see the shower curtain pulled back I quickly fling the curtain closed. Why you may ask… to hide the annoying drip. It’s amazing how closing the curtain can mask the sound [...]

Leashing My Kids
Okay- So when I was childless I remember seeing kids “harnessed” by their parents. I remember saying things like “Are they animals? What kind of kids, or for that matter parents, are these that they would be leashed like a dog?”… these statements now make me laugh b/c, as a parent of 4 years, I can [...]
